Those that own things have always played a special role in history, whether it is in how they obtained that ownership, maintain and use it, or perhaps lose it.
In the history of the Williams Valley it is those that own land who have played a prominent role. Other owners have also played their role, owners of capital of course and sometimes also the owners of knowledge.
This is not an easy topic to research as those that own much have a tendency to hide that fact. One way of approaching this subject is to start with the initial land grants and to trace ownership down through succeeding title deeds. This is not as easy as it sounds as complicated arrangements for owning land begin early on and do not get any less complicated.
